Nutrition and Fitness are Too Complicated

It's the year 2020.

There are thousands of Instagram fitness coaches; there's CrossFit, F45, Orange Theory and many other gym/fitness options.
People are thinking they're in "starvation mode" while trying every diet under the sun: keto, paleo, Whole 30, intermittent fasting, vegan, vegetarian, IIFYM, the McDonald's diet, etc. It's tough to know what "works" and what doesn't and why.

All of this. At. The. Same. Time!!!!???

I know, my head is spinning too, and health and fitness is what I do for a career. Back when I started my personal fitness journey in 2009 (10 YEARS AGO!?) I did two things: CrossFit class and Paleo nutrition.

If you feel lost in fitness and nutrition, follow the basics. They will lead you in the right direction!

At the gym, look for fun (you will keep doing it), safe (can't train if you're all banged up) and challenging (we need to work hard to get results).

  1. Resistance training
    1. Use a barbell
    2. Body weight exercise
    3. Use dumbbells, kettlebells and medicine balls
  2. Basic Conditioning
    1. Walking!! Yes, go for walks. Find some buddies and just move!
    2. Row, Bike, Run, Swim, Hike
    3. Look to build the length of time you can do these activities before adding speed
  3. Nutrition
    1. Protein
    2. Veggies and fruits
    3. Water
